If you have a master's degree in computer science, mathematics, the natural or engineering sciences or an equivalent degree and are interested in High Performance Computing, this fellowship provides the perfect opportunity to pursue a PhD at one of our NHR Centers. All NHR Centers are affiliated with German universities which are internationally recognized in the fields of high-performance computing, numerical simulation and AI/ML. Applications for our next cohort can be submitted up to and including September 15, 2022. Funding starts on April 1, 2023. The thematic fields offered by each of the NHR Centers can be found here.

3+ PhD Scholarships for Economics and Business Economics Studies - Autumn 21

#artificialintelligence

You can read more about how to apply in the application guide and find the rules and regulations of the PhD education here. You can read more about the assessment procedure and committees appointed by the dean here. Applicants should specify in the application whether they are interested in one of the specific projects outlined below. Applicants are very much encouraged to supply documentation as to how they rank compared to their class (both Bachelor's and Master's degrees). This may for example be in the form of a letter from your University stating either how you rank as an individual student compared to other students the year you graduated ("ranks as no.

PhD scholarship in Machine Learning for Multispectral Image Analysis

#artificialintelligence

Candidates should have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree. We expect that you have studied topics in computer science, mathematics, or similar including experience in image analysis, computer vision, machine learning, etc. Furthermore, the ability to program in Python, Matlab, C, or similar is important. Also, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment is essential, as is a good command of the English language. Multispectral imaging can be used for indirectly measuring the microorganisms associated with the plant leaves.

PhD scholarship in Machine Learning for Precision Oncology - Academic Positions

#artificialintelligence

The Cancer Research Center of Marseille (CRCM) is the basic science and translational research unit of the IPC (http://www.institutpaolicalmettes.fr/en/research/). Also affiliated to INSERM, CNRS and Aix-Marseille University, the 400 researchers working at the CRCM form a strongly multi-disciplinary research environment characterized by frequent and close collaborations with IPC clinicians. IPC is a member of the UNICANCER network (http://www.unicancer.fr/en/unicancer). This project will investigate the application of Artificial Intelligence, and especially its Machine Learning (ML) component, to Precision Oncology (PO). PO is a form of medicine that uses personal information to prevent, diagnose and treat cancers.

New DeepMind scholarships create AI study opportunities for postgraduates

#artificialintelligence

New scholarships offer students from underrepresented backgrounds the chance of postgraduate study in AI and machine learning. Interdisciplinary artificial intelligence group DeepMind has renewed its philanthropic commitment to postgraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds who wish to study AI and machine learning at Imperial's Department of Computing. A gift to the Department from DeepMind will support six new postgraduate scholarships in AI and machine learning over the next few academic years. DeepMind's gift provides funding for four Master's-level scholarships and two PhD scholarships, all with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning. The scholarships are targeted at groups who are currently underrepresented in computing, particularly women and those from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.

PhD Stipends, Economic Complexity and Emerging Ecosystems of AI Technologies

#artificialintelligence

At the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Business and Management, a PhD scholarship in Economic Complexity and Emerging Ecosystems of AI Technologies is open for appointment on 1 September 2020 or as soon as possible. The capability to fast and efficiently select and acquire relevant knowledge, and transfer insights and applications into new fields of economic activity is critical in times of rapid technological change, where new technological opportunities spring up frequently. In the advent of potential general-purpose-technologies (GPT), these capabilities provide opportunities for firms to disrupt established industries, and for countries to trigger changes in industrial and technological leadership. Machine learning and artificial intelligence (ML&AI) are generally perceived as a likely candidate for a GTP that will revolutionize the economy. Consequently, many developed and emerging economies have entered the race for leadership in the field of AI, leading to numerous national and supranational strategic initiatives to boost the development and application of AI technologies.

Fully Funded AHRC PhD Scholarship: Artificial Intelligence in Analogue and Digital Games

#artificialintelligence

We are pleased to announce that we have secured funding from the AHRC's North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership for a PhD Scholarship on Artificial Intelligence in Analogue and Digital Games to commence in September 2018 at Manchester Metropolitan University. You can apply for the PhD Scholarship here. Taking its title from Alan Turing's'Computing Machinery and Intelligence', this project approaches Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the perspective of the analogue (non-digital), taking instances of AI in analogue games as a point of entry into understanding the issues relating to the everyday dialogues between the human and the mechanical. Responding to an analogue turn within the games industry, this PhD studentship is designed to initiate new research into AI as it takes an analogue form within contemporary tabletop games (e.g., board, card and roleplaying games). In order to examine the differing behavioural, experiential, and design aspects as they relate to the materiality of AI across a wide range of often intersecting platforms, the research on analogue AI will take place alongside an investigation of AI in digital games.
